As a part of its collaboration with the National Museum of Modern Art – Centre Pompidou, the Vasarely Foundation presents a selection of some tweny works by artists from South America and Eastern Europe.
It has sometimes been said that optic-kinetic art in France was essentially the result of the arrival in Paris of young South American artists who came to meet a Hungarian, Victor Vasarely. The thesis, if it is a little caricatured, nervertheless has an element of truth. In fact, Paris has been meeting place for artists, preoccupied with questions of dynamism, light and more generally vision, coming from Eastern Europe and South American artists.
The “Sud-Est” exhibition is built around this theme.
